“我爱上海。”上海加中商会会长Matt,在上海生活工作12年，快人快语，对上海的营商环境、上海实施统筹推进外商投资促进工作，都打出了高分。
"I love Shanghai." Matt, Executive Director of Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (CanCham Shanghai), has lived and worked in Shanghai for 12 years. As an honest man, he scored Shanghai high marks straightforwardly for its business environment and coordinated efforts to promote foreign investment.

根据加拿大企业需要组织大小各类活动
Organize all kinds of activities based on the needs of Canadian enterprises
上海加中商会现在有100多家企业类会员，今年呈现稳定增长趋势。与一些外国在沪商会一样，上海加中商会的会员企业里，不仅有加拿大公司，也有上海本地公司，甚至还有欧美公司。行业分布较为广泛，有贸易公司、咨询公司、银行、矿业公司，几乎所有行业都有代表。
The CanCham Shanghai now has more than 100 corporate members, showing a steady growth trend this year. Like other foreign chambers of commerce in Shanghai, the member companies of CanCham Shanghai include not only Canadian companies, but also local companies in Shanghai, and even European and American companies. The industry distribution is relatively wide, including trading companies, consulting companies, banks, and mining companies, covering almost all industries.
这些会员企业在上海经营得好不好？Matt认为，这与行业本身有很大的关系，比如食品、能源领域的会员企业，业务是上涨的，尤其是从事中国、加拿大之间贸易的，有着很明显的上涨。与消费品有关的业务，也看到了上涨趋势，比如，会员中有加拿大的一个瑜伽品牌以及一个运动品品牌，在中国的业务都较好。相比之下，餐饮业会员处于比较困难的阶段，需要商会多多支持。
Whether these member companies operate well in Shanghai? Matt believes that business operation is closely related to the industry itself. For example, member companies in the food and energy fields have seen their business rise, especially those engaged in trade between China and Canada, which has witnessed a significant increase. Businesses related to consumer goods have also seen an upward trend. For example, there is a Canadian yoga brand and a sports brand among members, and their business in China is relatively good. In contrast, members of the catering industry are in a relatively difficult stage and need more attention from the CanCham.
Matt在上海加中商会里担任全职工作，“我们(商会)的目标，提供价值给予我们的会员。”Matt介绍，商会在上海开展一些大型活动，比如，今年6月份有加拿大与中国的文化交流日，9月份要举办一年一度的大型“枫叶晚宴”，11月份要组团参加进博会，12月份要为会员企业组织圣诞节聚会。
Matt works full-time at the CanCham Shanghai. "Our goal is to create value for our members." Matt said. The CanCham is going to carry out some major events in Shanghai, including the Canada Day in June this year, the annual Maple Leaf Ball in September, the team organization to participate in the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in November, and the Christmas Gala for member companies in December.
商会也举办一些小型的商业研讨会、企业培训活动、社会活动等。“商会的活动形式还是非常广泛的，研讨会、交流会、政策解读会，各方面的活动都有，旨在资源交换、资源共享。我们也在与会员讨论更多的新形式，更好地为更多的会员服务。会员之间的交流活动，更偏休闲一点，供彼此认识、社交。”Matt强调，会员需要什么，商会看看自己能提供什么。
The CanCham also organizes some small-scale business seminars, corporate training activities, and social activities. "The activities we held are very extensive in forms, including seminars, exchange meetings, policy interpretation meetings and so on, aiming to exchange and share resources. We are striving to think out more new forms with our members to provide them with higher-quality services. The communication activities between members are more casual for each other to know and socialize." Matt emphasized. In short, the CanCham will try its best to provide what its members need.

商会可以发挥桥梁和统筹两方面作用
The CanCham Shanghai can play its role as both a bridge builder and a coordinator
上海建立了“协调机制”，积极走出去在海外招商，邀请各国商会建立“投资上海”的海外网络。Matt表示，愿意提供帮助。“如果上海的投资促进代表团前往加拿大，我们会很乐意在加拿大建起支持网络，向加拿大企业介绍上海的投资机会。”在上海，商会愿意担当外资促进的合作伙伴，尽自己之力。“我们与上海市外国投资促进中心，有着非常多的交流，我们了解上海的投资促进工作，双方互相支持。”
Shanghai has established a "coordination mechanism" to go global and attract foreign investment in an proactive manner, with a purpose to invite chambers of commerce from various countries to establish an overseas network of "investing in Shanghai". Matt noted that he was willing to offer assistance. "If an investment promotion delegation from Shanghai travels to Canada, we would be happy to build a support network in Canada to introduce Shanghai's investment opportunities to Canadian companies. In Shanghai, the CanCham is willing to do its part as a partner in foreign investment promotion. "We have close exchanges with the Shanghai Foreign Investment Development Board. We are familiar with Shanghai's investment promotion efforts, and both sides are willing to provide support for each other."
Matt也请上海合作伙伴们了解，加拿大企业具有自己的“调性”，在投资促进方面，基本以民营企业、中小企业为主导。这些加拿大的中小型企业来上海寻找投资机会，想在上海拓展，把市场份额做大，都可以通过商会来实现。商会可以发挥两方面作用，一是可以作为一个桥梁，在加拿大的企业和上海的企业之间，进行交流，并且告知加拿大的企业，上海有这么一个协调机制;二是商会可以与加拿大的经贸部门，进行交流，帮助上海加强海外活动统筹。
Matt also hopes Shanghai partners can understand that Canadian companies have their own "preference". Private companies and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are playing a dominant role in investment promotion. If these Canadian SMEs want to look for investment opportunities in Shanghai, branch out in the city, and expand their market share, they can seek help from the CanCham to achieve these goals. The CanCham can play a two-fold role. First, it can serve as a bridge to communicate between Canadian and Shanghai companies, and inform Canadian companies that Shanghai has such a coordination mechanism; Second, the CanChamber can communicate with Canadian economic and trade departments to help Shanghai strengthen the coordination of overseas activities.
“上海市外国投资促进中心是我们商会非常强的一个合作伙伴，双方整个团队的关系非常紧密。”Matt介绍，自从上海开始建设“五个新城”，上海加中商会就一直在向会员推广，参加上海的相关活动。商会与上海的经济主管部门、各区职能部门,也关系紧密，及时进行政策的解读、交流。上海加中商会还与各国在上海的商会、各省市在上海的商会，有联系、有合作，比如，英国商会、澳大利亚商会、意大利商会、新加坡商会，以及上海四川商会等，都与上海加中商会一起拓展，促进加拿大企业与在沪各类企业的共同进步。
"Shanghai Foreign Investment Development Board is an excellent partner for us, and we have very close ties with it. Matt stressed. Since the construction of "five new towns" in Shanghai, the CanCham has been encouraging its members to participate in related activities in the city. The CanCham also has maintained a close relationship with Shanghai's economic competent authorities and district functional departments to conduct policy interpretation and exchanges in a timely manner. The CanCham Shanghai also has contacts and cooperation with chambers of commerce from various countries, provinces, and cities in Shanghai, including the BritCham Shanghai, the AustCham Shanghai, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, the SingCham Shanghai, and the Sichuan Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, all of which have expanded business together with the CanCham Shanghai to promote the common progress of Canadian enterprises and enterprises of all types in Shanghai.
